A series of trompe-l’oeil works examining art history and the traditions of modernism. These works integrate two techniques: scagliola, a plaster-based technique which imitates marble, and monotype, whereby the artist draws upon a plate which is then used as a printing block.

Une série d’oeuvres en trompe-l’oeil qui interrogent l’histoire de l’art et les traditions du modernisme. Ces oeuvres intègrent deux techniques : la scagliola, une technique à base de plâtre qui imite le marbre, et le monotype, par lequel l’artiste dessine sur une plaque qui est ensuite utilisée comme bloc d’impression.

The monotype is a way of placing painting, printmaking, and drawing in quotation marks. Each image is a reproduction, but a unique reproduction, inviting us to look for the lost original. Each mark is also an erasure.

Le monotype est une manière de mettre entre guillemets la peinture, la gravure et le dessin. Chaque image est une reproduction, mais une reproduction unique, nous invitant à chercher l’original perdu. Chaque trait est aussi un effacement.
